Yakutsk's main snow dump closes for expansion amid winter cleanup

Yakutsk's primary snow disposal site on 50 Let Sovetskoi Armii Street has paused operations. The suspension comes as technical work begins to expand its unloading zones. While the upgrades take place, snow will instead be taken to a backup location in the Ptitsefabrika microdistrict. The temporary closure means all collected snow must now go to the designated backup site. Authorities have approved its use for clearing residential courtyards and roadways during the transition. No timeline has been confirmed for when the main facility will reopen.

Once the snow season finishes, the backup area will be fully cleared in April. The site will then undergo restoration, with rehabilitation work carried out if required.

The shift to the backup disposal point ensures snow removal continues without interruption. After April, the area will be returned to its original state. Officials have not yet announced when the main site's expansion will be completed.
