Zurich to Host 2026 Urban Trilogue on Climate and Urban Challenges

Zurich will host the next Urban Trilogue on March 19 and 20, 2026. The event brings together leaders from Hamburg, Vienna, and Zurich to discuss key urban challenges. Topics will include climate protection, mobility, affordable housing, and social sustainability projects.

The Urban Trilogue began in 2019 as an initiative by Peter Tschentscher of Hamburg, Michael Ludwig of Vienna, and Corine Mauch of Zurich. Its purpose is to encourage mutual learning and the exchange of innovative solutions between the three cities. Each year, the meeting rotates, with Zurich taking its turn as host in 2026.

This year's programme includes visits to the Schwamendingen Enclosure, the University Children's Hospital, and the Chipperfield extension of the Kunsthaus Zurich. Delegates will also meet with Zurich's full City Council and the Ambassadors of Austria and Germany to Switzerland. Past discussions have covered sustainable energy, circular economy, urban mobility, future healthcare, and affordable housing. The collaboration aims to support sustainable growth while addressing urgent issues like climate change.

The 2026 Urban Trilogue will focus on practical solutions for cities facing similar challenges. Hamburg, Vienna, and Zurich will continue sharing strategies to improve urban living. The outcomes of previous meetings remain undocumented, but the exchange remains a platform for ongoing cooperation.
