Chinese carmaker BYD is rapidly expanding its presence in Germany, with plans to strengthen its dealer network and launch a premium brand. By the end of 2025, the company aims to move beyond its initial 26 locations, while also introducing its high-end Denza line in May 2026. The push comes as BYD reports strong sales growth since entering the German stock market in mid-2025.
BYD's German stock market operations began in earnest in mid-2025, starting with around 26 dealer and service points. Since then, the brand has seen double-digit sales increases, prompting a major expansion of its network.
The company is also tackling local concerns, such as resale values and espionage allegations, by emphasising compliance with German laws and positioning itself as a local provider. Tailored vehicles for the European stock market form part of this strategy.
In May 2026, BYD's premium brand, Denza, will debut in Germany with two models: the Z9 GT and the D9 van. Initially, Denza will open five flagship city stores and 5-10 independent dealerships, with plans to grow to around 40 locations over time.
To support its fleet and high-mileage customers, BYD is rolling out its 'Flash Charging' system. Capable of delivering up to 1,000 kW, it can charge multiple vehicles at once, cutting downtime. The technology will be available at dealerships and through partnerships with major charging network operators.
BYD's expansion in Germany includes a denser dealer network, new premium models, and fast-charging infrastructure. The company's focus on localisation and compliance aims to build trust with German stock market customers. With sales already climbing, the brand is positioning itself for long-term growth in Europe's largest car market.
