Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Get Season 3 Update

Call of Duty's Season 3 overhauls movement with wall jumps and grappling hooks

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone kicks off on April 2, 2026, bringing not just fresh maps but also a major mobility overhaul to the battle royale.

The new season introduces a wave of content for both Black Ops 7 and Warzone, including nine new multiplayer maps, additional weapons, and fresh game modes. Meanwhile, Warzone will debut Launch Pad, a brand-new point of interest, while battle royale players gain access to movement mechanics previously reserved for multiplayer.

How Will Movement Change in Warzone?

Starting in Season 3, Warzone will integrate wall jumps and grappling hooks—both available from day one. These mechanics open up new tactical possibilities, allowing players to, for example, hunt down campers holed up on rooftops with the grappling hook.

According to the developers, these features were added to expand mobility options and reward player skill, following positive feedback from limited-time modes.

As of April 2, 2026, wall jumps and grappling hooks will be usable across all battle royale maps, including Resurgence mode—with one exception.

Which Map Disables These Features?

Wall jumps will be disabled in the Gulag. While the patch notes don't explicitly mention the grappling hook, it's safe to assume it won't appear in the Gulag's random loot pool, where players fight 1v1 for a chance to return to the match.

In a blog post on callofduty.com, the developers explained: "Wall jumps are disabled in the Gulag. We can't just let prisoners escape, can we? You'll have to earn your way out the hard way."

Players Say: A Useful Tool Against Campers

Reddit users largely agree that these additions will drastically shift the game's dynamics. Some argue that securing high ground as a squad may now be far less effective.

Many also predict that campers won't be thrilled, as their positions will be far easier to exploit. User ChemicalPower2522 wrote: "Finally, a way to counter the squads who sit on rooftops with eight Claymores in every corner."

MoSSiK619 noted that the grappling hook might become essential gear—if you're chasing someone who uses one, you'll need your own to keep up. Still, most players are eager to test the new mechanics in battle royale firsthand.

Whether these features will hold up in the long run remains to be seen after Season 3's release. Recent movement perks in Warzone have faced criticism, with some fans calling them "cheap" and immersion-breaking.
