A free medical checkup campaign for SMO veterans and their families took place at the regional hospital’s outpatient clinic this week. Around 30 participants attended the event, which marked the third time the initiative was held at the facility. Organisers stressed the importance of regular health monitoring for those who served in the conflict zone. The 'Medical Checkups for Our Own' initiative was arranged by the JAO Ministry of Health, the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation’s local branch, and the Association of SMO Veterans. Participants completed the first phase of examinations, including medical history reviews, body measurements, blood tests, ECGs, and meetings with specialists.

Special focus was placed on combat-related health problems. Doctors screened for post-traumatic conditions, joint and muscle disorders, and neurological effects from concussions. Tatiana Yemelyanova, social coordinator of the foundation, noted the close teamwork with the regional Health Ministry to ensure follow-up testing for those needing further care. Andrei Reshetyko, the hospital’s director, highlighted the role of preventive checkups in early disease detection. JAO Governor Maria Kostyuk also spoke at the event, urging veterans and their families to prioritise regular health assessments. The campaign forms part of wider efforts to support medical rehabilitation for those affected by the conflict.

The event provided veterans and their relatives with access to essential health services. Further tests will be arranged for participants requiring additional care. Organisers plan to continue the initiative as part of ongoing support for SMO veterans and their families.
