Kaliasot River Rally Draws Nature Lovers, Plans For Conservation, Rejuvenation Of The River Discussed

Kaliasot River rally unites volunteers for cleanup and conservation push

Hundreds of environmental enthusiasts gathered this weekend for a rally along the Kaliasot River. The event focused on cleaning the waterway and planning long-term conservation efforts. Participants aimed to prevent the river from drying up while improving its water levels year-round. The rally kicked off at Kaliasot 13 gates, where volunteers collected waste from the river. Experts including Ashok Mishra (IAS), AK Vishwakarma, Pawan Sahitani, and Uday Roman joined the effort, surveying the area and discussing future strategies.

Organisers outlined key goals, such as maintaining a water depth of 3 to 4 metres, even in summer. Plans also include a 22-kilometre tree-planting drive along the riverbank to stabilise soil and improve the ecosystem. Local builders were urged to adopt rainwater harvesting systems to support water levels. Ideas were shared for developing a cycling track, walking plaza, and green corridor on the right bank. The left bank will also see beautification work, with plans to manage sewage discharge and sustain nearby wells and stepwells.

The rally resulted in a detailed action plan for the Kaliasot River’s rejuvenation. Efforts will now focus on planting trees, improving infrastructure, and ensuring consistent water flow. Authorities and volunteers will continue working together to protect the river for years to come.
