Mercedes-AMG's All-Electric GT Coupé Redefines Performance with Three-Motor Power
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its latest all-electric GT 4-Door Coupé, promising a mix of raw power, sharp agility, and razor-sharp handling. The car stands out with its advanced three-motor setup and cutting-edge torque vectoring technology, designed to push performance boundaries in electric vehicles. At the heart of the new coupé lies an innovative drivetrain featuring three axial-flux electric motors. Unlike the radial-flux motors found in most EVs, these use a hub-and-spoke winding design. This approach delivers up to three times higher power density, a more compact size, lighter weight, and far superior torque vectoring for improved grip and responsiveness.
The AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system leverages these motors to distribute torque instantly between all four wheels. Torque vectoring further refines power delivery between the rear wheels, enhancing traction and stability—especially in tight corners. Drivers can fine-tune the car's behaviour using **Agility Control**, which dynamically shifts torque between wheels to alter cornering character. For braking, the coupé employs a hydraulic blended system with carbon-ceramic discs at the front and steel brakes at the rear. The suspension, called **AMG Active Ride Control**, pairs air springs with semi-active roll stabilisation, balancing comfort and sporty precision. Additional features like **Response Control** adjust throttle response across driving modes, while the **AMG Race Engineer** system lets drivers tweak responsiveness, cornering behaviour, and wheel slip. Before its launch, the car underwent rigorous winter testing in northern Sweden. Engineers focused on refining electronic stability and control systems to ensure peak performance in all conditions. The final model is expected to achieve a range of over **400 miles (640 km)** on a single charge.
The all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé combines next-generation motor technology with adaptive handling systems. Its axial-flux motors, torque vectoring, and customisable driving modes aim to set a new benchmark for electric performance cars. The model is set to arrive with a projected range that balances long-distance capability with track-ready agility.
