Breck Kennedy has just acquired an extended wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom at a fraction of its usual cost. The rare deal came about after a Japanese dealership mistakenly priced the luxury car as a standard model. Kennedy and a friend drove it over 1,200 miles back home after collecting it from the port. The car’s journey began when Kennedy’s friend, who exports vehicles from Japan, spotted the Phantom. The dealership had listed it as a standard wheelbase version, unaware of its extended length. This error meant Kennedy paid the standard-model price, securing what he calls a 'deal of a lifetime'.
The import process took more than three months due to delays from holidays and mechanical issues upon arrival. Once cleared, Kennedy and his friend embarked on a long drive to bring the car home. Now, the Phantom is undergoing a full service to ensure it runs smoothly.
Originally a US-market model, the car could be easily re-exported back to America if needed. Kennedy has no plans to keep it forever but intends to enjoy it in the near future. After servicing, he aims to drive it regularly during spring and summer, taking it to car shows and making the most of its luxury features.
Rolls-Royce, founded in 1906 by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, remains a symbol of automotive excellence. This particular Phantom, with its extended wheelbase, adds an extra layer of rarity to Kennedy’s purchase. The Phantom is now in Kennedy’s hands, awaiting final checks before hitting the road. He will use it for leisure drives and events in the coming months. The car’s unique history and mistaken pricing have turned it into an unexpected treasure for its new owner.
