Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd. (MMOPL) celebrated its 12th Foundation Day in June 2022, marking over a decade of operations on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor. The company highlighted its achievements, including a near-perfect punctuality record and a strong focus on innovation for the city’s growing metro network.
Since its launch in 2014, Line-1 has carried more than 125 crore passengers. The route connects key residential areas, business districts, and transport hubs, making it a vital link in Mumbai’s urban transport system. Over the years, it has completed over 15 lakh trips, with the highest single-day ridership reaching 5.79 lakh commuters.
The line has maintained an impressive 99.99% punctuality rate and a flawless safety record, with zero fatalities reported. To enhance convenience, MMOPL introduced co-branded RuPay 'On-The-Go' cards on its anniversary. These cards, powered by the National Common Mobility Card platform, enable seamless travel across multiple transit modes in Mumbai and other cities. Beyond operational efficiency, MMOPL has upgraded stations with tech-driven improvements. Many have been transformed into retail and commuter-friendly spaces. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to operational excellence, customer-focused innovation, and sustainable urban mobility as Mumbai’s metro network continues to expand.
With 12 years of service, Line-1 remains a cornerstone of Mumbai’s public transport. Its high ridership, safety standards, and interoperable payment solutions reflect its role in shaping the city’s mobility future. The company’s ongoing upgrades and strategic vision aim to support a growing metro system.
