Sirius–Kazakhstan Talent Summit Opens with a Grand Gala in Almaty
The Sirius–Kazakhstan International Talent Summit is set to open in Almaty on January 17, 2026. Before arriving in Kazakhstan, the touring orchestra has already performed in three countries, gaining international acclaim along the way. Their programme, Music of Friendship, will showcase works by renowned composers, including a world premiere for Kazakh audiences.
The tour began in New York in October 2025, followed by London in November and Berlin in January 2026. Each stop has provided the orchestra with fresh experience and professional growth, according to organisers.
The Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra, led by principal conductor Dmitry Filatov, will headline the gala concert at Almaty's Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The venue, seating around 1,500 spectators, presents a major challenge for the large ensemble. Logistical coordination has been extensive, given the scale of the travelling group.
The concert's programme features compositions by Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Khachaturian, and others. A highlight will be the Kazakhstan premiere of Journey Through Asia by Ural composer Sergey Srotin. Filatov expressed enthusiasm about performing at the summit, calling it a significant opportunity for the musicians.
The opening gala marks the start of the summit's events in Almaty. The orchestra's performances will introduce Kazakh audiences to both classic and contemporary works. Organisers have emphasised the importance of cultural exchange through this international collaboration.
