Man Falls Three Meters While Climbing - Climber critically injured in 3-metre fall at Battert Rocks near Baden-Baden

A climber has suffered serious injuries after falling three metres in the Battert Rocks area near Baden-Baden. The accident happened in one of the Black Forest's most popular climbing zones, where rugged terrain made rescue efforts difficult.

The 50-year-old man was climbing in the Battert Rocks, a well-known spot with around 1,200 documented routes. The area's steep and uneven landscape forced rescue teams to use specialised equipment just to reach him.

A guide helped first responders locate the injured climber. Due to the remote location, a rescue helicopter winched an emergency doctor to the scene. The man was later airlifted to hospital using the same winch system. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the fall. The complex operation involved multiple teams working together to safely extract the victim from the difficult terrain.

The climber was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Rescue crews highlighted the challenges of working in such a remote and rugged area. Investigations into the accident's cause are still ongoing.
